Orlando Pirates drew against CAF Confederations runners-up Supersport United on Tuesday evening in a goalless draw.
Head coach Milutin Sredojevic says that he is not only expecting strikers to score goals but the whole team. Pirates forwards only have a maximum of 3 goals to their name as the team has only scored 9 goals from 13 matches played.
“There is a consecutive thinking that scoring in today’s football is belonging only to the strikers,” said Micho.
The Soweto based team has not too bad on the defensive side of things as they have not conceded a lot.
“Defence is very tight, people are providing iron defending. Usually is always double on defending the strikers and when you have such a situation, then other players need to come to the party with late runs. We are inviting wingers with fullbacks.”
Having said that the Serbian maintains confidence in his players and their abilities.
“I have the highest possible degree of respect to the players. I have absolute trust and confidence in the players and the work we do and I’m convinced that we shall focus now on these two remaining matches and we will see later what will happen.
I believe that we are having a team that is a work in progress. Players are really working very hard and I’m giving them credit for everything,” concluded Micho.
Pirates next face AmaZulu on Saturday at the Orlando Stadium with the kick-off set for 20:15.
