Arrows drop points

Jabulani Shongwe was on the scoring sheet as Golden Arrows gave up a 2-0 lead to end up sharing the spoils with Cape Town City.

The match began with City shooting off the blocks but could not finish their early chances. Then the tide turned as Arrows found their confidence and quenched the space City was enjoying.

It was evident that City would fall back as Siphelele Magubane gave the KwaZulu Natal based side the lead after 39 minutes. Both teams went into the break with just the one goal between them.

The second half was similar to the first few moments of the game as City stepped up their game and were creating scoring opportunities. But that was just the problem the chances were only created but never taken.

Arrows showed them how the deed is done when they extended their lead by a goal from Jabulani Shongwe in the 69th minute.

Ayanda Patosi pulled a goal back for the Mother City from the penalty spot to make it 2-1. The game was settled by Thabo Nodada who equalised for City and gave head coach Benni McCarthy a breather as sweat was falling from his forehead.
