Jabulani Shongwe had a chance to showcase the reason why Golden arrows brought him in as he featured for the KwaZulu Natal based side.
Arrows were up against defending champions Bidvest Wits at the Bidvest Stadium on Thursday evening. Shongwe was on the starting line-up and it was a game he enjoyed in the green and gold colours.
Both teams came out of the blocks running as the game went on for 30 minutes before the deadlock was broken. Wits looked to have had the better of chances but it was Arrows who scored first. Lerato Lamola tapped in from a low cross to make it 1-0 in the 31st minute.
Before the 40th minute Amr Gamal levelled matters from a Gabadinho Mhango cross after he beat his defender.
In the second stanza Wits looked to put on the pressure on Arrows as they gained confidence. It was Zolani Nkombelo who restored the lead for Arrows with a beautiful driven shot to beat Moeneeb Josephs after 55 minutes of play.
Abafana Besthende sealed the victory with a goal by winger Ndudozo Sibiya as he slotted past Josephs a placed ball from an assist from Kudakwashe Mahachi.
Arrows move to 6th position with 5 points on the log table.
