Happy Jele and his team defeated Ajax Cape Town to end Tuesday night with three points in the bag.
The fixture was a league game that sees the Buccaneers steer the ship to second on the log. A strike from Bernard Morrison in the opening nine minutes was all it took to deal the damage for Pirates.
The first half was evenly contested with both teams getting a lot of the ball. Pirates stroked first and it was all for Ajax to try and get back in the game. Wayne Sandilands had little encounters as Pirates looked to control the rest of the first half.
Thamsanqa Gabuza found the back of the net after five minutes in the second half but was flagged offside. Thembinkosi Lorch for Morrison was the move on the hour mark by Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic to add some fresh legs.
Stenly Menzo introduced Prince Nxumalo and Bantu Mzwakali from his side to try and salvage something from the match but it was not to be. Ajax came close to an equalizer in the 89th minute as a header from Tosheeq Morris was blocked by Sandilands to grant a safe three points to Bucs.
